A
thought by Mark Batterson, (2015-10-06) from his book, If: Trading Your If Only Regrets for God's What If Possibilities (Kindle
Locations 1810-1811). Baker Publishing Group. Kindle Edition. (Click on the title to go to Amazon.com to

Mark
says, “At some point, more is less. As you increase consumption of a product,
while keeping consumption of other products constant, there is a decline in the
gain you derive from consuming each additional unit of that product. I tested
this theory with Haribo gummy bears for many years, and I can confirm that it’s
true! The more you consume, the less you enjoy.”
He
goes on, “This law has a lot to do with your measure of joy. Joy is not getting
what you want; it’s appreciating what you have. And in some cases, it requires
wanting less! You’ve got to find fulfillment in the simple pleasures.”
Later
he says, “If we simplified our lives, I reckon that we’d be happier, healthier,
and holier. Most of us know it intuitively, but we live in a culture that
screams, ‘More!’ Enough is never enough. Last year’s model is so, well, last
year. We want the latest fashion, the latest feature. We can’t imagine being
out of date when it comes to colors or clothes or computers or cars. Listen,
the only thing not out of date is eternity! Reckon that.”
So
have you found that true yet?
