I love the title of
this book, “Refire! Don't Retire: Make the Rest of Your Life the Best of Your Life.” And I am a
living example of this title. Now I am
67 and doing all I can to continue living the adventure that God has creative
me to live. And even at this stage of my
life, it is truly an adventure and I do live it with all the gusto I can. But do you?
Maybe no matter your age you would like to refire. That thought really
clicks inside of you.
Ken and Morton say, “To refire…is to see each day as an opportunity for adventure and learning! It’s to
infuse passion and zest into every area of your life— emotional, intellectual,
physical, and spiritual. Heart, head, body, and soul.” Is that what you want?
Now they are talking here about retirement but you
are not yet at the retirement age of life but you have it seems retired from
really living and you see the need to refire.
Now by refire, they mean it is “an attitude of embracing the years ahead
with enthusiasm rather than apathy.”
And that is a choice, yours and mine. And they also say, “If those who were merely
enduring could be helped to think differently, they might begin to behave
differently.”
I had trouble in the first 6 months of my
retirement. I was worn out but I knew
that I still wanted to live the adventurous life. So I set out to find the path that I had
somehow gotten off of. I found those
things that reenergized my opportunity to be creative and make a difference in
people’s life. I was writing a blog at
that time that was just a posting of what I had created through my years of
being a Pastor. I posted my old sermons
but I needed a new adventure so I started writing this blog. I stated creating something new five days a
week I did it with a new excitement and a new challenge.
What about you, what have you done recently that
is different or do you do the same thing every day? Listen, there is a life out there for you to
live not just endure and it is really exciting but you might have to do
something different. And it starts by
your thinking differently.
So is that what you want?
