A
thought by Steven Furtick, (2014-02-11) from his book, Crash the Chatterbox: Hearing God's Voice Above All Others (Kindle
Locations 3186-3187). The Doubleday Religious Publishing Group. Kindle Edition.
I had
my 67th birthday yesterday. There
I said it, I am 67. I had problems when I
turned 50, I had problems when I turned 60 and it seems every year since I’ve
had problems, so I quit counting and even having a bd after I turned 65. I said that was the last year I needed to
count so I had started saying that I was 65+. I mean my life and effectiveness
in making a difference was slowly being taken away.
I have
through the years been able to turn what I perceived as a negative into a positive
so to me not counting anymore was a way of handling a negative but the truth is
it really was living with a heart of ingratitude. I should be celebrating instead of in despair or denial. Being 67 is a tremendous opportunity of
telling God thanks and of sharing with others how good He is. I am living in the best years of my life and
the Enemy is a liar. So what is He
telling you?
I
like the examples of how to handle this that Steven gives. He says, “If you call your schedule busy,
hectic, and overwhelming, that’s how it will feel. Your words will give weight
to the very dread and discontent that the Enemy intends to use to discourage
you. But if you call your schedule full and challenging yet fruitful, it will
begin to take on those dimensions, first internally and then externally.”
Another
one, “If you call your job a dead end, that’s exactly what it will become to
you. Your work will seem stagnant; therefore, your passion will stagnate within
the environment you have created with your attitude. But if you call your job a
training ground and thank God for using it as a means of provision, God will
see your faithfulness in little and in due time will make you faithful over
much more.”
Our
lives are to be seen as an opportunity instead of obligation. They also are to be lived out with gratitude
instead of ingratitude. As we change our
attitude then God will use each day as a tremendous adventure that He has
planned for us to live.
So I’m
67 with a vitalizing life ahead of me that God has been preparing for 67 years for
me to live. So I’m thankful for the
experience and the wisdom and now the opportunity to share it with you. I know God is working in and through me. So
let’s go live another day.
So how
are you doing?
