“If you lack momentum, it’s your responsibility to evaluate the situation.”

A thought by Steven Furtick, (2012-09-04) from his book, Greater: Dream Bigger. Start Smaller. Ignite God's Vision for Your Life. (p. 153). The Doubleday Religious Publishing Group. Kindle Edition. (Click on the title to go to Amazon.com to buy the book

Have you found yet that the Enemy is constantly trying to get us off track to living the adventure that God has given to each one of us?  He tried two times with me within a last 2 hour period last Friday.

The first time was in the bank.  I was there writing a check and for the first time that day I realized it was Friday the 13th.  I went up to the teller and said that I had been having a very good morning but I just had found out that it was Friday the 13th and I wasn’t sure how the rest of the day was going to turn out.  But I said it with a smile but the truth is a lot of people and some of them are Christians are lost their momentum in life las Friday by this superstition. But I reflected on the fact that “This is the day that the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it.”  And to not listen to another lie of the Enemy.

But another situation did waylay me.  I went on down the street and went into a coffee shop and asked for a certain tea but I wanted it in a to-go cup and they charged me the same price for it if I had stayed.  Now here was the problem.  They give you more tea for the same price if you stay than if you go and something started churning in me that that just wasn’t right.

I got my tea and sat down to search for a thought for today’s blog but something was happening in my spirit.  It seemed to be still in the fairness issue of what had just happened and the freedom of listening to God in showing me His thought for today was not there. So after a while I stopped and reflected and saw that what I was feeling was wrong so I asked His forgiveness for my pride and then He changed my attitude.  I came to the conclusion that they had a right to choose their way of doing business.  God’s Spirit had showed me where I had been waylaid when I had stopped and asked Him to look inside me and show me what He saw.

Right before this thought Steven says, “God is a master of recovering that which is lost. But He expects you to cooperate with Him as the lead member of His search-and-rescue team.”

If you have lost your passion, your edge in your relationship with God and even in your relationship with your spouse, your family, your life then stop and look for what has waylaid you and then do something about it.

Listen, as Steven says, “The moment we stop posturing and let go of our ‘rights,’ we are in a better position for God to use us powerfully.”

So are you ready to stop and search for what has waylaid your lack of momentum?

“There’s a big difference between building a castle and building a kingdom.”

A thought by Bob Goff from his book, Everybody, Always: Becoming Love in a World Full of Setbacks and Difficult People ( p. 41). Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition. (Click on the book title to go to Amazon.com to buy the book.)   Have you ever built a sand castle or maybe a Lego castle?   Have you? Bob says, “We actually build castles all the time, out of our jobs and our families and the things we’ve purchased. Sometimes we even make them out of each other. Some of these castles are impressive too. Lots of people come to admire what we’ve built over the course of our lives and tell us what great castles we have. But Jesus told His friends we weren’t supposed to spend our lives building castles. He said He wanted us to build a kingdom, and there’s a big difference between building a castle and building a kingdom.” Bob goes on, “You see, castles have moats to keep creepy people out, but kingdoms have bridges to let everyone in. Castles have dungeons for people who ha...

“When you understand that life is a test, you realize that nothing is insignificant in your life.”

A thought by Rick Warren, (2012-10-23) from his book, The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here For? (Purpose Driven Life, The) (p. 57). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. To realize that from God’s perspective life is a test goes a long way in determining how you handle your life.   It is important to see that in testing your character is both developed and revealed.   Rick goes on to say that “even the smallest incident has significance for your character development. Every day is an important day, and every second is a growth opportunity to deepen your character, to demonstrate love, or to depend on God.” So there is a God purpose behind each situation in your life.   Even the bad ones are there to strengthen you and develop you.   You see those bad situations are really good ones because they are there for your good. I start each day with a reminder that God is good.   Not every situation that is going to come in my day is good but because G...

“What areas of my personality, background, and physical appearance am I struggling to accept?”

A thought by Rick Warren, (2012-10-23) from his book, The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here For? (Purpose Driven Life, The) (p. 35). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. Rick posed this question at the end of his chapter, You Are Not an Accident.   In this chapter he deals with the fact that God created you the way you are with a purpose.   In other words you are not an accident.   I am also reading the Apostle John’s view of Jesus and what He said and did while He was here on earth.   In the beginning of Chapter 9 there is a story about a blind man.   And the disciples who were with Him asked Him a good question, “Who sinned, this man or his parents that he was born blind? ”   Have you ever asked the same thing about something in you that you don’t like?   Like that characteristic is a curse or something.   Society has set a standard that is not a standard of God.   Remember, He created you and you are not an accident. Je...
