A thought by Shaun Nepstad from his book, Don't Quit in the Dip (p. 92). Worthy. Kindle Edition. (Click on the book title to go to Amazon to buy the book.)
Here is the whole thought, "God has a best, but mediocrity always seems reasonable when you doubt God’s best." And that is true too many times, isn't it?
Shaun says, "Tell yourself right now, I’m not going to settle. Do not settle for the thought that God is to be seen from a distance but not experienced. Do not believe the lie that this is all there is in life. God has more available. But He needs you to not settle and to never quit in the dip."
He later says, "Sometimes we settle because we get tired, and other times we settle because we get distracted. That’s why it is so important to keep vision in front of us. 'Where there is no vision, the people perish' (Proverbs 29:18 KJV).
"You may have heard the phrase 'vision leaks.' That means that we can get inspired, but if we do not constantly feed that in our lives, pretty soon our desire to see it accomplished dissipates. And where we once were so excited, we have now grown comfortable and we settle. Distraction is a huge weapon the devil uses to get us to settle."
He says, "Winston Churchill is believed to have said, 'Success is going from failure to failure without a loss of enthusiasm.' Don’t quit. Keep going! Some people settle because they simply lose hope.
He goes on, "Let me give you three points. All three are life-changers. Are you ready for them?
1. Don’t settle. Trust God for more. Believe God for more. Follow Him with all of your heart. Walk in full obedience with total surrender and do not settle for anything less than God’s best for your life.
You’ll want to circle this next one: 2. Don’t settle. You can have vision for your future. You can know purpose. Life doesn’t have to be meaningless and hopeless. In a relationship with Jesus, you can have the abundant life Jesus came to bring, where we look forward to our life with Him in heaven one day and enjoy His presence and purpose on earth today.
Now, don’t miss this last point: 3. Don’t settle! I know what you’re thinking: Did Shaun make a mistake by making all the points the same point? No. I’m trying to emphasize how mission critical it is for you not to settle."
He then says, "Because… Yes! There is more to life! Yes! You can have more, but the 'more' you’ve been looking for is found in no other place than our Promised Land: our relationship with Jesus Christ. Let’s be people who don’t just sit back and watch other people walk into their destiny or stop short of what God has for us. But let's walk all the way into his promise."
Let's do it, okay?
Yes, yes!
