A thought by Steven Furtick (2010-09-21) from his
book, Sun Stand Still: What Happens When You Dare to Ask God for the Impossible (p. 30). Multnomah Books. Kindle
Edition.
In my
quiet time every morning I read a Psalm. I have done that for years. I read the Psalm that corresponds to the
date. I am starting my 4th
cycle of 30 Psalms and today is December 1st so I read the 91st Psalm so let’s see what Jesus said through the Psalmist today, Jesus is God you know.
Verses
2- 4, (msg),
Say this: “God,You’re my refuge.
I trust in You and I’m safe!”
That’s right—He rescues you from hidden traps,
shields you from deadly hazards.
His huge outstretched arms protect you—
under them you’re perfectly safe;
His arms fend off all harm.
I trust in You and I’m safe!”
That’s right—He rescues you from hidden traps,
shields you from deadly hazards.
His huge outstretched arms protect you—
under them you’re perfectly safe;
His arms fend off all harm.
Maybe
you are going through some tough times why don’t you claim what it says,
personally believe it in your life. Pray
this back to Him. Make it personal. Audacious faith takes Him at His word.
Here
is some more from the 91st Psalm…
Verses
14-16 (msg),
“If you'll hold on to Me
for dear life,” says God,
“I’ll get you out of any trouble.
I’ll give you the best of care
if you’ll only get to know and trust me.
Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times;
I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party.
I’ll give you a long life,
give you a long drink of salvation!”
“I’ll get you out of any trouble.
I’ll give you the best of care
if you’ll only get to know and trust me.
Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times;
I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party.
I’ll give you a long life,
give you a long drink of salvation!”
Now
with every promise there is a premise. The
premise here is, “If you'll hold on to Me
for dear life… if you’ll only get to know and trust me… call me.” then He’ll do audacious things in your
life,
“get you out of any trouble… give you the best of care… answer,
be at your side in bad times; rescue you… give you a long life, give
you a long drink of salvation!”
Why
don’t you really take Him at His word?
First, do your part - the premise, then believe with everything about
you that He will do what He’s promised.
Just take Him at His word.
Why
don’t you do it?
