A thought by Greg Darley (2010-11-15)
from his book, Passion Is Not Enough: Four Elements to Change the World (Kindle Locations 572-573). Backstage

It
has been said that God speaks loudly through pain and softly through
pleasure. We don’t seek answers when
everything is going right for us but when trouble is upon us.
The
truth is in times of trouble there are three things that we can do. We can do nothing. Just roll with the flow. Or we can gripe, complain, and play the blame
game. That’s what it seems we are doing
right now in our country. Even
Christians are blaming everyone they can think of about what is happening. To me it seems like we are all to blame
because of our greed but that is for another time. Blame does nothing to solve problems. It just keeps us from turning to God and us
to solve the problem which is the third way to deal with trouble.
Did
you see the story last week of the young motorcyclist who was pinned under a 4,000
lb. car and it caught on fire? Maybe you
saw the video on the internet of the amazing moments when a group of
bystanders, construction workers and students lifted the 4,000-pound car off
the roadway while a man pulled the man's leg to drag him from the
wreckage. These people didn’t stand
around watching but they together did something impossible. They took action.
Pain
does that. We can’t ignore it so we do
something. So many people know that they
are unhealthy. They know that they need
to do something but they don’t until they have to. The one problem with heart trouble is that
people don’t know they are having any problems until it is too late but some
are fortunate to have that heart attack and not die. Yes I said fortunate because they weren’t
doing to do anything about their health until they had to and then they had to
and the heart attack added years to their live.
They starting eating right and exercising and it changed their life.
The
key is to do something before the pain but we don’t until it comes and we can’t
ignore it and we then do what needs to be done.
So what
is it in your life that needs your attention?
You wrote this so gracefully.
