Have you found this true yet, in your life?
Christine leading up to this thought says, “The psalmist exhorts us: ‘Oh magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together’ (Psalm 34:3 NKJV). When we use a magnifying glass, we are not making the object bigger; rather, we are amplifying our ability to see it for what it really is. Think of the telescope in an observatory. To the naked eye, distant stars are but a tiny speck of light. But in reality, they are huge. We never want our understanding of God to be limited to what we can perceive within the confines of our limited vision; we want to see him for how huge he really is. So, boost the power of your lens to see how huge God really is. He is always everywhere. There is always more of God than our pain and disappointments. The real question is not ‘What’s gone wrong?’ but ‘What good is God doing that I cannot yet see?’”
She goes on, “One way to boost your ability to see God’s hugeness is to worship him regardless of your circumstances. I often have to look up and declare his greatness, and only then does my heart start to shift. Even though the circumstances may not have changed, my perspective has changed because I choose to magnify the Lord, his Word, and his promises above the circumstances that I can see. And that changes everything.”
She goes on, “Easy for you to say, you might be thinking. You don’t know what’s going on in my life. That’s true, I don’t — and I don’t mean to in any way belittle the giants you may be facing. But I do know — and I want you to know — that God is bigger than any circumstances, no matter how daunting. Problems that seem overwhelming, that threaten to deplete your passion, can be made small in the light of God’s greatness. They become tiny black dots on the immense — the infinite — white screen of God’s work in the universe. By looking at your circumstances through the lens of God’s eternal truth rather than through the lens of your temporal circumstances, you won’t allow external circumstances to steal your internal peace. Remember, the size of that dot is determined by the focus you give it, so magnify the Lord so you can see that God is bigger than the circumstance you face and is at work through it.
Whatever you are going through right now would you strive to change your focus from the negative circumstance you’re going through to the positive, mighty, great God who loves you and who is greater than any circumstance you are going through? Psalm 121 MSG says, “I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth and mountains.” Somehow would you remember that God is greater than any circumstance or pain or disappointment or mountain in your life? Would you?
Yes, yes!
