Some have the mistaken
idea that answered prayer is all in our faith and in what we do. If we don’t
get the answer we’ve prayed then something is wrong with us. But Mark says, “If you don’t get the answer
you prayed for, it’s not a fail. After all, the answer is up to God. Prayer is
the way we put the ball in God’s court. The only way you can fail is by failing
to ask.”
Now in many ways
timing is the key. We may pray that it
happens now but now may not be the way God sees it. Mark says, “I’m a lifelong asthmatic, and
albuterol has literally saved my life countless times. And while I continue to
pray for the elimination of all symptoms via miraculous healing, I will thank
God for every other miracle along the way! Even if God chooses not to heal me
while on this earth, I’ll never be short of breath in heaven. The one who
reversed the curse of sin will reverse the curse of asthma, the curse of
cancer, and the curse of Alzheimer’s disease. Sooner or later, there will be no
more pain, no more sickness, and no more death. I’d prefer sooner, but I’ll
take later. Both are equally miraculous.”
Just keep trusting and
don’t give us and quit asking.
So what are you prying
for?
