"What we do now controls who we become and where we are in the future."

A thought by John C. Maxwell (2012-10-02) from his book, The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth: Live Them and Reach Your Potential (p. 95). Center Street. Kindle Edition.

It is such a temptation to live in our past or to live in the future.  Granted there are lessons to be learned from our past and growth to happen in our future but today is when it is done.  Take for instance my challenge to learn more about Jesus so I am reading His story through the Gospels 13 times in 2013.  Now that is accomplished by me reading four to five chapters every day.  I read two right before I started writing this blog.  It will happen by doing something now.

I want to be a very effective, growing, and creative retiree.  There are things to learn and difference making things to do even at 65+ but it is done in the now.  My ship isn’t coming in, I am on it and rowing it right now.  What I will accomplish tomorrow is being done today.

Who are you becoming?  Who are you with and what are you doing today?  Are you doing anything today that will make you better tomorrow?

We were looking at buying some new furniture last night.  We were excited and really wanted to do it.  Yesterday afternoon I moved our furniture around in our front room and found that what we were planning on doing wouldn’t work.  If we would have by-passed that step we would have been in trouble when the new furniture would have been delivered.

“What we do now controls who we become and where we are in the future.”  There are things to be done now that will make the difference tomorrow?

So are you willing to do it?
