“The ones we love can’t come back if we don’t let them go.”

That is so true!   Our son this week is graduating from Law School.   It will be an exciting time for us.   But I remember the day we put him on a plane to Colorado Springs to the Air Force Academy and how hard it was to say goodbye.   Maria says, “As each of the kids left for college, I learned a new appreciation for how good every stage of life can be from the time they landed to the day they launched. I thought if I could dodge making eye contact with a teacher or do everything perfectly, I could escape the people who made me feel vulnerable and insecure. Sadly, it didn’t work; it never does. “Good love sometimes takes some do-overs.”

Maria says, “More than once, when Bob has walked in through the front door and our first interaction doesn’t feel like the kindness and compassion we’re shooting for in our relationship, I’ve sent him right back outside. I make him get back in the car and we take it from the top again. I’m not kidding. Good love sometimes takes some do-overs. In fact, it insists on them.
